Scene unfolding machine v8 update!


Dear Scene unfolding machine players!

So excited to announce, after a long while, that the supplement is receiving a major update! For starters, consider joining us on Discord and taking a look at the PUM Companion app, if you haven't done so yet.

What is new?

Scene unfolding has been expanded, and on top of the existing openers and closures, we have added:

  • Design exploration based scenes:
    • Location features
    • Core challenge
    • Challenge circumstances
  • Design combat based scenes:
    • Terrain features
    • Enemy tactics
    • Enemy composition
  • Flesh out investigation scenes:
    • Type of clue
    • Revealing finding
    • Opposition activity

These were originally located in GUM, but were rewritten from scratch, and ported to SUM where they make much more sense in terms of Scene Unfolding capabilities.

What changed?

Character archetypes have been moved to GUM. Since GUM takes care of world building and content generation, they make much more sense. This way, GUM takes care of creating things, where SUM brings them to life

I know these may be finicky changes, but after a lot of brain storming, the PUM-SUM-GUM combination is much much clearer this way.

Many other improvements in grammar and table refinement has been done all over the place, thanks also to the help of Kelly Wardle for proof-editing this edition.
